Kick the Sugar and Reclaim Your Health!

Sugar is everywhere. It’s not just in the obvious places, like desserts and pastries, but it’s in our coffee, our soup, our salad dressings, and even crackers! This pervasive sweetener robs the body of nutrition, can rot your teeth, and cause fatty deposits to build up in your liver. It's the main cause of cellulite, body fat, and metabolic issues. Sugar also creates an acidic environment in the body that harbors diseases.

You can see why it's so important for us to kick sugar to the curb and swap it out for healthier alternatives.

Now, I’m not about deprivation—not in the least. I like a sweet treat as much as the next person. But I make sure that what I’m eating isn’t going to negatively impact my health. I try to ensure that any treats I'm eating are sweetened with a healthy sweetener, like honey or maple syrup, or natural sugar substitutes like stevia or xylitol.

Once you start switching to healthy sweeteners and low-sugar substitutes, you’ll notice that you have fewer and fewer cravings for sugar. You’ll also find that you start tasting the natural sweetness of fruits and vegetables without needing to put anything on top of them.

Getting off sugar will help you to ditch the afternoon energy crash, stabilize your blood sugar, look younger, and create a more alkaline environment that will allow your body to thrive.

Here are 5 steps to help you start your journey to a sugar-free lifestyle:

  1. Identify Hidden Sugars: Read food labels carefully to spot hidden sugars. Look for ingredients like high fructose corn syrup, dextrose, and sucrose.

  2. Swap Sugary Drinks: Replace sugary sodas and juices with water, herbal teas, or drinks sweetened with natural alternatives like stevia.

  3. Choose Whole Foods: Focus on whole, unprocessed foods. Fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and lean proteins should be the foundation of your diet.

  4. Healthy Snacking: Keep healthy, low-sugar snacks handy. Nuts, seeds, and fresh fruit can curb cravings without adding unnecessary sugar.

  5. Mindful Indulgence: When you do indulge, choose treats made with natural sweeteners. Opt for dark chocolate or homemade baked goods sweetened with honey or maple syrup.
